Writing Thank-yous as a Marketing Strategy

Posted in Marketing by Wendy Maynard on the November 1st, 2007

As you saw in my last post, I just returned from a wonderful even in Phoenix. I met oodles of inspirational individuals and I am now in the process of sending them “thank-you, nice to see you” notes. A lot of people don’t so this because yes, it takes more time. As you know, my mantra is “marketing is about building relationships.” Therefore, taking the time to write personal notes pays off in great huge dividends down the road. Why? Because I am developing friends in the business worlds. And while the individuals who I connect with may or may not ever use my services, they are likely to have associates and business connections who would be a perfect client for me. Word-of-mouth is one of the most powerful forms of advertising.  Read my earlier post on all of the different opportunities to say “thanks.”

Have you written your “thank-yous” lately?
Hugs and success,

Wendy - This absolutely works. I was recently at an event and got lots of cards. I sent a “nice to meet you” message to all. Many people responded and some want to hire me. :) - Mike

We send quarterly thank-you notes to all clients - handwritten and hand addressed. Sure it takes some time, but if you view that time as money it’s a lot less money that a pricey direct mail campaign.

Like clockwork, about a week after they go out in the mail the phone starts ringing with clients and referrals ready to start new projects. it’s magic!

    Dear Wendy,

Though I am not a frequent reader of your website but as I have stumbled upon this here. I couldn’t just leave without saying that you are 280 % right when you say that its not able building more business its about building relationships.

If you want to stay in the market and keep on taking your share to the max. you have to start taking the pain of writing emails to people and add as much personal touch to that email as you can. Cause this is what will hlep you make relationship. If its just one mail copy and pasted to 1000 people 99.9 % chances are that you won’t even get a single reply. Cause that would look more like a sales picth then wanted to build a lasting relationship.

Wendy I think I’d read a few more posts as I really enjoyed your writing and if you are one of those individuals who Submit Free Articles you are more then welcoem to do so

    Peace

    Jessica
