About Wendy Maynard
Hi, It’s Wendy Maynard, your friendly Marketing Maven!
First off, be sure to visit my website, GoMarketingMaven.com for marketing strategies, ideas, and tips to accelerate your business success.
What is a Maven? Well, the American Heritage Dictionary says a maven is: a person who has special knowledge or experience; an expert. Personally though, I prefer the definition found in the Princeton University’s WordNet: someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field.
And although I could tell you these definitions are the reasons I decided to call myself the Marketing Maven, I think what it really boils down to is my childhood dream of being Wonder Woman. Since I couldn’t very well run around as an adult calling myself by a superhero name, I picked the next best thing - a semi-adult version if you will.
Next, I would like to say a big Thanks! for reading Kinetic Ideas! This blog is about marketing. I write tips, ideas, strategies, and musings.
Many entries will help you to excel at your business marketing, and all (I hope) you will find interesting. I generally create entries 2 - 3 times a week.
A little deeper into the World of Wendy: Gray is my middle name and it’s a family thing. I live in beautiful Oregon, USA, have two sassy herding dog named Piper and Elvis Tango, and I’m a Scorpio. Patience is not one of my virtues. Curiosity is my biggest motivator.
My husband is Nathan Riddle and he is a professional Downhill Mountain Biker (yes really!) and we have a beautiful son named Ripley.
I am the co-owner of Kinesis, Inc., a creative firm specializing in marketing, branding, graphic design, and website development. Kinesis has a great group of talented people who come up with stunning solutions for our clients. Don’t just take it from me - check out our portfolio and see for yourself!
I have so many ideas floating around in my head about both offline and online marketing strategies, that I wanted to share them. Thus, this blog (Kinetic Ideas) was born. I also write a variety of marketing articles, as well as Remarkable Marketing, a free weekly e-newsletter that covers everything from marketing and sales ideas to advertising strategies to successful design tips. Subscribe now by clicking on the link above!
My business partner at Kinesis is Shawn Busse. Not only is he a whiz-bang art director and graphic designer, he also makes the most beautiful sculptures. I invite you to take a look at his art website. I posted a couple of pictures of his art in an earlier blog entry, Shawn Busse - Artist Extraordinaire
Here is a picture of my dog-child, Piper. She is the happiest spirit I know and teaches me everyday about the joys of being in the present moment:

And here is her bratty “little brother” who goes by the name of Elvis Tango

Hey Wendy.
I found your site long journey which started at a yahoogroup where you had an article published. Good job! The site looks great and you seem to have a lot of interests that are somewhat parallel to my own. As it happens I was in the US in June, and had the good fortune (or sense) to insist on a driving visit to Oregon, and enjoyed it immensely. The drive from LA to Lincoln City was wonderful.
In any case, I am interested in how you find marketing your work in that area of the world. Any feedback you would like to provide, I will appreciate.
Regards
Lindy

Hi Lindy,
Thanks so much for your comments and interest in my site. Yes, Oregon is truly a magical place. I would like to visit your part of the world some day. I do think that marketing is about building relationships with people, no matter where in the world you live. As long as I keep my focus on that, I find I have a great response.
If you are interested, you might enjoy Kinesis Quickies. It is a free, twice a month e-newsletter that I write. You can subscribe by clicking here. And, you can always check back here for new entries.
Thanks again, Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I had your site bookmarked for some reason. It must’ve been a day when I was hyped up on Excedrin and NoDoz. I decided to come back and visit. Your site is very refreshing.
My name is Brandon and I’m a single Dad living in Utah. I am a small Internet Software Vendor. (microISV) I hope to take some of your marketing advice to heart, put it into action, and drive thousands of hits to my site a day.
Thanks for sharing your pics, your life, and your portfolio. Have a great week!

Hi Brandon,
Yes - reading is good, but taking consistent and persistent action is what will get you business. Please feel free to comment on or ask questions about various posts as your read through them.

Hi Wendy,
Wow! What a treat to find your blog and to see your wonderful review of my site, HipsterCards.com. Thanks so very much. We launched the site for the same reasons you disliked so many of the ecards online—they sucked! or at the very least they weren’t terribly smart or funny or beautiful. We’ve been growing like crazy and have a bunch of fun Halloween cards launching next week.
I’m planning to spend more time reading your blog (I have a marketing background) and would love to chat, by phone or email, about my other project, the Delight network of blogs for women.
Best,

Hello, Wendy~
I HAD to write to let you know that I so connected with your writing. You are truly a gifted writer!
I was at ezinearticles.com posting another article and found your articles “Marketing Miracle: Outsource Your Creative Services” and “Marketing Discipline and the Joy of Success.” Not only were they informative, but your style flows effortlessly. Passionate about the eloquently written or spoken word, I was mesmerized. Extraordinary! And I love your use of the word maven! Absolutely yummy!
That led me to your Web site and I loved that as well. Best of everything in life to you in all your endeavors.
Blessings,

I just read your post - Overwhelmed by the Daily Deluge of E-mail?and think it was quite helpful. You see, I live in South Florid and we were recently hit with a hurricane (WILMA) I was without power for 10 days and email has been piling up. I found your article a big help and was wondering if you would allow me to post it on my website (with full accreditation, of course). It is http://www.WECAI.org the Womens ECommerce Association, International. It will be posted in our Business Resources section of our website with a link to your website. We are in the process of redesigning this area to categorize the articles (we have over 100 to post) and I am looking for articles which have good information and would be of value to our visitors. I think the information in this article would be a great help to our members and guests.
You may visit the site http://www.wecai.org and check us out. We also offer a Basic Membership which is complimentary. If you decide to join and allow me to post your article, I will upgrade you to Charter Member once you have registered. In addition, if you do decide to join, you can post additional articles to the site. We are working on creating a resource portal for women who do business online and would like to have hundreds of articles for our members and guests to read.
Thanks so much for the valuable information.
Warmest regards,
Heidi

Maven:
I thoroughly enjoyed your writing at your blog site.
I grinned, AND I laughed out loud.
You, obviously, have the writing talent.
Thank you for the good hits ["good hits": things that make you feel good].
